Narthecium ossifragum For the willing slave - those who help others yet frequently ignore their own needs. Bog Asphodel is for the willing servants or slaves whose driving ambition is to help other people whilst ignoring their own needs. What is not understood is that help for others can only come from a natural overflowing of their own strengths and wisdom. Enthusiasm and powerful opinions are no substitute for this, and may indeed hinder rather than help. The Bog Asphodel person often finds it difficult to see that sometimes people who are suffering may need to work out their own salvation. Imposed “help” can block the true healing process, especially where the helper is influenced by their own prejudices and beliefs. Bog Asphodel people tend to be trapped by their emotional reactions to the suffering of others. They need to spend more time gently looking to their own personal growth and developing a sense of humour. A lightness of touch and a slightly whimsical approach are essential to all “healers” if they are to help others fully and not become trapped by their work. Bog Asphodel encourages people to take their missions in life more lightly and to avoid entanglements with the suffering of others. The irony is that many of the people whom they try to help may well be suffering from the same problem - that of living their lives at too great an intensity! This is the essence of choice for all those who help others. It helps us to take life more easily and find a more relaxed (and efficient) way of working.
